Dear Cadets, Junior and Senior Counselors, and Staff, On behalf of the Board of Directors of the WV Sheriffs' Association and all WV Sheriffs, I would like to welcome you to the 10th Annual West Virginia Sheriffs' Youth Leadership Academy. The WV Sheriffs' Association is proud to continue sponsoring this unique program. "Sheriffs' Camp" has grown and changed since it's inception in 1957. This year's Academy is the largest ever with 210 registered campers. We're pleased you are now part of our history. You are the future leaders of our communities -- and we are committed to helping you develop the leadership skills that may serve you for the rest of your lives. Cadets -- Congratulations on your decision to attend the 2004 Youth Leadership Academy. This will be an unforgettable week of fun and learning. Lifelong learning will be the key to your future success. I hope you will remain drug, alcohol and violence free. You are an important part of your community. To the returning Junior and Senior Counselors -- the Sheriffs' Associaion appreciates your assistance, enthusiasm and continued support. You are the spirit of the Academy; show me and the Academy staff that you are learning and developing your leadership skills by positively teaching model behaviors to this years cadets.
